HDCM was founded in 2008 by violinist Isabelle Senger with the mission to provide world class chamber music performances year round to Central Oregon. After a successful inaugural performance at the Tower Theatre in April 2008, the Opening Season thus far has featured the Highland Trio on Opening Night, the Crown City String Quartet at the First Annual High Desert Chamber Music Gala at the North Rim Lodge, and the Blue Rose Trio in January 2009. The final concert of the Opening Season will be a return of the Crown City String Quartet in May 2009. In addition to the Series at the Tower Theatre, we are dedicated to building our Educational Outreach Programs with local schools through one-on-one contact and instruction with the guest performers. For Opening Night in September 2008 and the January 2009 concert, the Mountain View High School orchestra class, led by Carol Kirkman, has also been provided with complimentary tickets to attend the performances. In doing so, we hope to expose young children to the highest levels of music performance, and cultivate an interest that can lead to a more fulfilling life – either pursuing a personal artistic path or developing an appreciation for the performing arts.
We have started a new Educational Outreach program called "Spotlight Chamber Players". Auditions were held in October and open to students in grades 6-12 with at least three years of private instruction. This program was developed to provide a high level of regular chamber music instruction through HDCM. Students also receive complimentary admission to the HDCM Series at the Tower Theatre and the opportunity to perform at a HDCM event. Congratulations to this year's recipients!
