MISSION STATEMENT High Desert Chamber Music’s mission is to bring world class chamber music and musicians to Central Oregon. Through our concert series and Educational Outreach programs we aspire to heighten a level of awareness, appreciation and understanding of this great genre of classical music. HISTORY HDCM was founded in 2008 by violinist Isabelle Senger. We are in our fourth season of presenting concerts in Central Oregon. We present chamber groups, ranging from string trios to piano quintets. These events have been well attended, and after our first three seasons at the Tower Theatre, we are excited to be presenting our Series at the Oxford Hotel this year. We look forward to being a part of the Oxford Hotel’s outstanding commitment and contribution to the Central Oregon community. In addition to the Series, we present an Annual Benefit Gala, which is our largest fundraising effort for the season. This year’s Gala will be held at the Broken Top Club, which includes a performance, dinner, silent auction and raffle. We have been fortunate to receive a tremendous amount of support from local businesses and we are working hard to strengthen and solidify our place in the community. Another event we present during the season is “Music & Friends”. These performances are a great way to experience the origins of how “chamber music” began – you and your friends can enjoy a private performance in a personal residence paired with wine provided by HDCM. HDCM is dedicated to building our Educational Outreach Programs with local schools. SPOTLIGHT SERIES was developed to raise funds benefitting these programs. These events are designed to complement our Series, and may include documentary films, solo recitals, and our “Spotlight on Wine” tasting events. As part of our Educational Outreach, we provide students with direct contact to the guest performers through performances and Q&A sessions at string orchestra classes. This has been a great and rare opportunity for students to interact with visiting professional musicians in an informal setting. In addition, we provide complimentary tickets to our performances for the string orchestra programs of Mountain View High School, Bend High School, High Desert Middle School, and Pilot Butte Middle School. In doing so, we hope to expose young children to the highest levels of music performance, and cultivate an interest that can lead to a more fulfilling life by developing an appreciation for the performing arts. In addition to our programs with local schools, HDCM has developed a program called "Spotlight Chamber Players" which provides a high level of regular chamber music instruction. Students receive regular chamber music instruction through HDCM, complimentary admission to the HDCM Series and the Annual Benefit Gala, the opportunity to perform in the lobby prior to HDCM performances, and a feature performance opportunity at "Spotlight on Wine”. Auditions are held in the Fall and are open to students in grades 6-12 with at least three years of private instruction. This program is offered at no cost to the students selected.
