Violinist Agnes Gottschewski is the Assistant Concertmaster of the Long Beach Symphony, as well as a member of Pacific Symphony. She is also an active studio musician in the Los Angeles area. Originally from West Berlin, Germany, she started playing the violin at the age of 6. After receiving an Undergraduate degree from the Hochschule der Kuenste in Berlin, she moved to Southern California for Graduate studies at the University of California San Diego, where she concentrated on contemporary music, and at the University of California, Santa Barbara, where she was a member of the Graduate string quartet in residence. An avid chamber musician, Ms. Gottschewski is a member of the Mountain Trio, and has also performed with various groups in the Los Angeles area, including Camerata Pacifica - a group that she joined on tour to Washington, D.C., New York City, Ireland, and Great Britain. Since 1997, she has been performing at the Sitka Chamber Music Festival in Sitka, Alaska, in addition to performing various chamber music programs in Anchorage. For several years she was a member of Southwest Chamber Music, playing many premieres of contemporary chamber music and recording several CDs, one of which received a Grammy. She has also been an artist faculty member at the Music Fest Aberystwyth, a chamber music festival in Wales/England. |
